A Fabulous Victorian building which houses the city's largest art gallery, the museum service and hosts a lively programme of exhibitions, talks, workshops and special events. The museum is in Queen Street and is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, closed on bank holidays, admission is free.

Its main entrance is a wide flight of 13 stairs with handrails from the street level to glass panelled swing doors. A self-operated lifting platform to the left of the stairs provides level access from the pavement into the museum.

The path from the parking bays to the front entrance of the museum is a little steep and uneven. If this may present a problem entry can be arranged through a level entrance at the rear. If you can contact us before you arrive, we can ensure that delays in receiving assistance are avoided.

There are events/teaching/resources for people with disabilities, wheelchairs available for loan and Braille information and/or interpretation.
