Transport

There are two bus stops located on Ramsgate Road. Buses on route number 36 heading towards Margate, Herne Bay and Ramsgate stop here on a regular basis. There is a shelter and seating provided at both of these stops. These bus stops are a short step free distance to the hospital and are situated closest to Main Entrance A.

Car Park and Drop Off

There are numerous car parks situated close to all the main entrances and exits of the hospital.

Parking for disabled badge holders. The Trust is committed to providing parking facilities for blue badge holders as close to the hospital entrances as possible. The Trust will maintain a minimum of 15% of the public parking for the exclusive use of blue badge holders. These marked bays will be free of charge and will allow a maximum stay of 3 hours. Blue badge holders who park in the pay and display parking will be required to purchase a ticket from the pay and display machines to cover the length of their stay. Parking for blue badge holders on double yellow lines or hatched areas is prohibited at all times. Drop off points are located close to Main Entrance A, Maternity, Physiotherapy, Viking Day Unit, A&E and Spencer Wing.

Access at Entrance

All of the entrances leading into the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital are clearly visible on approach. All entry doors have adequate vision panels incorporated ensuring safe access into the building for all visitors. Each entrance is wide enough to accommodate all users and many are automatically powered.

Reception

The Main Reception for the hospital is located closest to Main Entrances A and B. There is ample room in front of the counter allowing wheelchair users and parents with pushchairs to manoeuvre with ease. Staff will assist all visitors with enquiries and offer further aid where possible. Most of the clinic receptions are accessible to all users and offer seating should visitors need to rest.

Facilities

There are numerous toilet facilities located on each floor of the hospital, including fully accessible toilets. Plenty of seating has been provided within the hospital in a range of heights. There are seats with armrests available. Caf├ęs and shops are also provided within the premises, serving a variety of items to visitors and staff.

Access to All Areas

To gain access to different floors there are lifts and stairs available. All of the lifts at the hospital are suitable for wheelchairs. Access around the hospital is fairly easy due to wide corridors in which the doors are held open. All doors into the wards are wide enough to allow wheelchair users to pass though with ease.
