Access in Summary

Transport

There is a bus stop directly outside the hospital with step free access to both entrances. The bus stop has a shelter and bench seating.

Car park and drop off

There is a fairly large car park that has accessible parking bays for blue badge holders. Access from these bays to the hospital is through the car park itself and to the internal lifts that serve all floors throughout the hospital. There is also a drop off area directly outside the 24 hour entrance.

Access at entrance

There are two entrances to the hospital both of which have automatic doors and are wide enough to allow a wheelchair user to pass through with ease. The entrance on level D is a 24 hour entrance.

Reception

There is no main reception at the hospital as each department has its own reception/nurses station. However, there is an information point on level D located next to the 24 hour entrance if any assistance is required.

Facilities

There is an onsite restaurant available for visitors and patients which is located on level E next to the main entrance. A wide range of hot and cold food and drinks are available.

Please note that there is only one accessible toilet in the reception area at Level D that visitors can access without going through secure areas. There are visitor toilets on each floor of the hospital but these are located behind secure doors and visitors will need to alert staff through the intercom before they are allowed access.

Access to all areas

There are lifts and stairs that serve all floors within the hospital. The lifts are big enough to allow wheelchair users easy access. The corridors and doors within the hospital are suitable to allow wheelchair users to move around with ease.
