Exeter Central Station is located on Queen Street in the Castle Quarter of the City Centre. The Station is fully accessible although the Ticket and Information Office located on a small concourse at the Main Entrance offers only stepped routes to the platforms. There are however alternative entrances that can be used to gain level or ramped access to the platforms.


There are 3 platforms at Exeter Central Station. Platforms 1 and 2 share the same facilities. There is a small waiting room located in the lobby area for the male and female toilets. There is ample seating on the platform. There is also a help point with an induction loop system.

Interchange between the platforms is via multi steps and a footbridge at the Queen Street end of the Station or over staggered ramped footbridge at the New North Road end of the Station.

Ticket Office

There is a single Ticket office window with a further 3 service positions through doors into the Information Office. All of the service positions have induction loops. Customers having already purchased tickets can gain level access to the platforms from the Station Car Park or alternative entrance on New North Road. There is a ticket machine on the concourse.

Arriving and Departing the Station

The Station is located approx 5 minutes walk from Exeter High Street.

Exeter Central has a small crescent shaped frontage with one designated accessible parking space in front of the Main Entrance also providing a convenient drop off point directly outside the Station Entrance.

The Station has a managed pay and display car park located to the right of the Main Entrance on Queen Street.

The Station has 3 entrances as detailed below.

  • Main Entrance on Queen Street - The main entrance gives access to the Ticket and Information Offices. The routes down to the platforms from this entrance are via multi steps.
  • Car Park Entrance on Queen Street - There is level access from the Station Car Park (managed pay and display) through a gate directly onto platforms 1 and 2. This gate may be locked and it is advisable to call in advance of travelling to ensure that a member of staff are able to assist.
  • Alternative Entrance on New North Road - this entrance provides ramped access to the platforms. This route enables entry onto the far end of all platforms via a series of ramps and a footbridge.
